The Conference Organisers are carefully monitoring and assessing the development and potential impact of the Novel Coronavirus on the 8th Family Law & Children’s Rights Conference 2020 to be held in Singapore from 19-22 July 2020.

In the event that the conference is cancelled due to public health risks around the Coronavirus, registered attendees will be notified immediately and receive a full refund of their registration fees.

The rich heritage of the island is depicted here through showcasing the trends and developments leading to modern-day Singapore.  The history of Singapore is told through 20 dioramas, William Farquhar’s collection of drawings, a Peranakan house, Fort Canning, Tiger Balm King’s decorative carvings and a secret society lodge.  The museum is housed in a grand colonial building topped by a giant silver dome, which was built in 1887.

Take in the island city’s waterfront landmarks while cruising along the iconic Singapore River on a ‘bumboat’ water taxi.  Enjoy unobstructed views of the Merlion and the Esplanade as well as the statue of Sir Stamford Raffles at his original landing site.  Best experienced after dark when the city scape is bathed in bright lights.  Time your journey well to secure the best views of Marina Bay Sands’ dazzling light and water show, nightly at 8pm and 9.30pm (and 11 pm on weekends).

At a height of 165m, Singapore Flyer is the world’s largest Giant Observation Wheel (outside United States) and also one of Asia’s biggest tourist attractions.  Each Singapore Flyer capsule is about the size of a bus and can carry up to 28 people.  Passengers are able to walk around and enjoy the views outside without feeling any movement or vibration at all.  In contrast, due to its reliance on gravity which helps in keeping its carriage balanced, the carrying capacity of the ferris wheel is usually limited to about 8 passengers.  It promises more than just a view, but a panorama that captures Marina Bay’s skyline with a glimpse of neighbouring Malaysia and Indonesia.

Sentosa Island

Sentosa Island is a man-made island that was built for fun and recreation.  The many attractions on offer at Sentosa include the expansive Resorts World, Universal Studios Singapore, Tiger Sky Tower, Singapore Butterfly & Insect Kingdom, and one of the largest collections of aquatic animals in the world, SEA Aquarium, all of which continue to draw repeat visitors from all over Asia.  Located just south of Singapore CBD, the 12-minute cable car ride from Vivo City to Sentosa Island has the added bonus of providing astounding panoramic views.  If all of this sounds exhausting, don’t worry, because on Sentosa Island are several soft, sandy beaches along the southern coast which are especially popular on weekends.  This is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the CBD and allows you to have a beach resort experience just a few minutes from one of Asia’s most enigmatic cities.
